5 Things to Avoid (2 hours before the COVID-19 test)
There are different ways of Covid-19 #testing, but the #RapidAntigenTest is the most used recently. When we do the test by ourselves, apart from following the procedure, you may also want to avoid doing these 5 things about 2 hours prior to the test – so it doesn’t affect the #accuracy of the test result.
?Reminder, #PCR (Nucleaic Acid)Test results are more accurate than rapid antigen test. If you are concerned about the accuracy, please conduct #PCR (Nucleaic Acid)Test at the testing centres. #INSTA is also serving at testing centres in many districts to provide #Covid19TestingServices.
- Avoid eating
To reduce the incidence of nausea or vomiting during specimen collection.
- Avoid drinking water
Drinking water may dilute the virus concentration in the throat, so it would affect the testing accuracy.
- Avoid brushing your teeth or using mouthwash
You should avoid doing these 1 to 2 hours prior to the test, as the virus may be damaged by it.
- Avoid smoking, alcohol drinking or chewing gum
The disinfectant effect of the chemicals or alcohol in it will remain in the mouth, affecting the accuracy of the test results.
- Avoid nasal irrigation
If the test is to collect nasal samples, avoid nasal irrigation within 1 to 2 hours before the test, so it won’t affect the accuracy of the test results due to the reduction of the virus concentration.
